The CANGC established the Nursery Industry Fund in 2001 funding it with $1 million. The principal is to stay intact but the earnings will be used each year to fund proposals that fall within the realms of its mission. Purpose: Support provided by the Nursery Industry Fund for Innovation and Excellence is intended to promote and advance the urban horticulture based nursery industry in California through projects and partnerships based on research, education and public relations.

Six trustees manage the endowment and select the projects to be funded. Each year the RFP is updated with any changes and the deadline date posted on the form. The new RFP is made available in February each year.
