Committee Statements of Purpose and Operations
Awards Committee
Committee Purpose: Recognize individuals for outstanding contributions to CANGC and the California Nursery Industry.
California Grown Show/The Nursery Mart Committee
Committee Purpose: The Committee shall have the primary oversight in the installation, decoration and dismantling of the shows currently known as California Grown Show and The Nursery Mart. The Committee will work with the Association President, and the Shows’ Sales and Operations Manager to create and investigate new procedures, ideas and other incentives to grow these shows into the future.
The committee will be responsible for assisting exhibitors on-site at the show, working with the general service contractor, the facility representative the installation of decorations, the feature area, signage and registration within the parameters of the operations budget. Will gather input on the annual shows through surveys of attendees, exhibitors, CANGC officers and staff. This information will be used to modify, create and establish new policy and procedures, vision and promotion of the shows.
CANERS Foundation…Endowment for Research and Scholarship
Committee Purpose: Solicit for and manage perpetual, restricted funds for income and the distribution of annual grants to the CANGC Research and Scholarship Committees to benefit the horticultural industry.
CANGC-PAC
California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers Political Action Committee
Committee Purpose: Raise political awareness of members as to the importance of gaining access to legislative and regulatory personnel and agencies in order to communicate industry issues, and to also improve member access to these bodies through political contributions.
CCNPro™ California Certified Nursery Professionals™ Committee
Committee Purpose: Perpetuate certification and advanced certification of qualified nursery personnel through testing on a biannual basis. This includes the development of study materials, learning clinics and continued education through its publication The Nursery Pro.
Education and Career Committee
Committee Purpose:
Works to develop ways and implement means of educating students about the importance of horticulture and attract individuals into the field of horticulture as a career.
Executive Committee
Committee Purpose: Advise the President on all aspects of Association functions and activities based on a continual flow of information from the CANGC office, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors as related to policy, financial, and administrative activities. The President takes the minutes of this meeting.
Finance Committee
Committee Purpose: Review, monitor and make recommendations on all financial aspects of the Association and CANERS. Responsible for internal auditing.
Future Leaders Council
Committee Purpose: Seek and investigate potential candidates for CANGC officer positions. Develop state officer job descriptions. Committee member policy is set forth in the governance document.
Membership/Dues/Insurance & Safety/Benefits Committee
Committee Purpose: Membership/Dues/Insurance & Safety Committee is dedicated to providing value to the members of CANGC for the purposes of member retention and member procurement.

Nursery Grower Leadership Board
Mission/Purpose: To foster the continued growth and economic well-being of California’s nursery and floral industry by:

...Develops and maintains a strategic plan to address industry needs and issues

Research Committee
Committee Purpose: Act as liaison with industry researchers. Solicit requests for research funding, evaluate funding requests, and allocate available funds to highest priority research projects. Disseminate results of CANGC funded research to CANGC members. Research benefiting the nursery industry is encouraged by discussion with researchers and grants of funds in support of various research projects.This Committee formally solicits research proposals, evaluates them and selects the projects of greatest importance to the nursery industry to be funded. Meets twice each year, once at U.C. Riverside and once at U.C. Davis. Every 3-5 years conducts a survey of CANGC members inquiring as to what the members see as the greatest needs for research. Selects the Research Award recipient.
Scholarship Committee
Committee Purpose: Recognize and help support students pursuing a career in ornamental horticulture and closely related fields via scholarships. Annually solicit applications from high school seniors, two-year and four-year college students, and graduate students. Select and award scholarships meeting all criteria
