Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board Ag Waiver Order
Resources for Participants in the Nursery CCRWQCB Task Force
A joint nursery-university task force met with the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board's staff on Friday, April 30 to share concerns about the preliminary draft order. As a result of that meeting, staff confirmed that the workshop on May 12 in San Luis Obispo would be supplemented with another in July in the Salinas-Watsonville area and that the Board does not plan to implement the preliminary order's provision to require container plants to be covered. Implementation of the order will be delayed until all public input has been received and the staff has an opportunity to review the large volume of public comments it received. Staff expressed their interest in continued discussion with nurseries that might lead to approaches for reduced nutrient loading of discharge and timeframe recommendations. The task force members and broader nursery, greenhouse, and cut flower producers are evaluating both the preliminary order's provision and the data received during the meeting. Outreach to other agricultural commodities is also underway, seeking a coordinated coalition response to the proposals made in Region 3.
The resources found on this page provide historical information about the proposed order issued February 1, 2010 and response of key agricultural groups.
