National/State Advocates Tom O’Brien/George Soares help CANGC members have a vote and a voice. United as an industry, your voice can be heard. Every year, people become more disenchanted with big government, so we must work harder to be successful. We have two tools to accomplish our goals—CANGC Legislative Fund and CANGC Political Action Committee. These tools, paid for through contributions, allow us to represent the industry before legislative and regulatory bodies. CANGC staff, in coordination with our state and federal legislative advocates, reviews, monitors and takes action on government actions affecting the industry. CCN PRO - Certification for Employees and Your Business Since 1969, the California Certified Nursery Professional program has set the standards for solid, basic knowledge that every sales person should know in order to serve the gardening customer.  Through a testing program in three areas -- general knowledge, plant identification and landscape design that requires 70% minimum to pass each section, 4,258 have been certified to date. If 50% of a nursery's sales staff is certified, they qualify to become a Certified Garden Center.  Check HERE

Better Gardener Program The gardening public can go to this website www.BetterGardener.com to find CANGC Retail Members. They simply input their zip code and any nearby members and their contact information becomes instantly available to them.  In addition, on a monthly basis gardening articles and a checklist for every week of the year is made available for them to access. Better Gardener is promoted on Twitter. Members can also use these releases for their own newsletters or to develop handouts for their customers.
